So for months I have been trying to narrow down some of my favorite pictures of Penn to do a year review for him….and let me tell you….that is hard! This kid probably has thousands of pictures, 300 alone from his first few days alive!
I narrowed it down as much as I could but be prepared for a TON of photos. Happy birthday sweet boy. It’s so awesome to be able to relive the last year through our photos. What a gift. 🙂
Auntie L took you to meet your first horsie!
I learned that you don’t like raspberries being blown at you. This face was just too cute!
Yay for smiles caught on camera! This was just the beginning of TONS of smiles.
Yes, i will show this to your future girlfriends!
Things weren’t always fun and games! But thankfully I only have a few photos like this 🙂
This is probably one of my favorite pictures. His facial expression says it all!
Mommy doesn’t let us cuddle very often when it’s nap time but i sure do love it when we get to!
Bath time is your FAVORITE!
For a while you went through this scrunchy nose faze but thankfully that is gone because it was a little scary but still so cute!!
Everyone thought your mom was crazy when she wanted to do cloth diapers…i love it because it means you always have a cute little bum!
And just like that you are 1. How does a year go by so fast?!
A while ago I wrote a little letter to Penn and then completely forgot to give it to my sister on his birthday so here it is.
Dearest Penn –
A year ago you came into this world screaming and changed everyone’s lives forever. I remember the day and the days leading up to it like it was just yesterday. Mommy and daddy can tell you that when I found out you were going to be born I kinda freaked out J Okay, maybe really freaked out, like did a little dance and lots of screaming! I was so excited to FINALLY become an Aunt. You see, I had been waiting for you for almost five long years and the time was finally here. The 9 months when you were growing in Mommy’s belly seemed to just creep along. I still remember the day I first felt you kick. Leading up to Mommy’s delivery date I knew that I would get to be in the room when you were born and I was beyond thrilled but also a little nervous. Would I mess up the pictures? Would I say something wrong and get kicked out? Or would I just miss it all together! I even had nightmares that you were born and I was still stuck in Indianapolis. Thankfully I didn’t miss a thing. Taking your first picture will probably always be one of the greatest memories and greatest feelings in the world.
Every day since that first day has been such a joy (even when you were screaming in the car or throwing a fit). I wouldn’t change a thing, except maybe live closer to you! Throughout the year I have made many visits to you and you have made many visits to Indy and each time I see you I am greeted with the biggest smile and the most gorgeous blue eyes. Every time I see you, you have learned something new. Sometimes my heart breaks because I will go only 1 week in between visits and in 1 short week you learn so much. I know this time is precious with you and I promise you I will try my best to continue visiting you on a regular basis and learn more about you.
As we celebrate your first birthday I still just can’t believe it has been a year. It has gone by so fast but then again I also hardly remember my life without you around. You make my world a better place and so much happier. Please know as you continue to grow into a charming little man that I will do anything and everything in my power to make your life as happy as can be. I know we will go on many adventures together in the coming years and I just can’t wait to see the man you will grow to be. I know you will be amazing.
Dream big little one because I know you will do great things. And don’t ever forget that Auntie Lane loves you to the moon and back. J
Happy 1st Birthday!
